How a partnership works

Listing is free for verified schools. Any school that later pays us is labeled as a partner, and payment never changes what we say about Hope.

  1. Claim your listing and confirm tuition, grades and fees.
  2. Confirm your status in the Hope Scholarship Board's directory.
  3. Hear from Kanawha Valley families who have Hope funding in place.

Common questions

How does a Kanawha County private school join the Hope Scholarship list?

A Kanawha County private school registered with the West Virginia Department of Education under Exemption (B) or (K) joins the Hope Scholarship by submitting the Board's New Provider Request Form. Hope Scholarship Board staff confirm the WVDE registration, then the school claims its portal account. Every provider who has contact with students, including a sole operator, must pass a criminal background check.

Can a church in the Kanawha Valley start a microschool funded by Hope?

Yes. Under West Virginia's microschool exemption from SB 268 of 2022, a church or other entity can form a tuition-charging microschool of up to 100 students. Hope Scholarship families can pay microschool tuition through the portal, where microschools use the school module. The church should register its microschool with the Hope Scholarship Board and plan background checks for every staff member.

Does listing a school on Charleston Edu Funding change its Hope Scholarship status?

No. A listing on Charleston Edu Funding does not change a school's Hope Scholarship status, which is set only by the Hope Scholarship Board. Charleston Edu Funding reports Hope status from the Board's published directory and labels the date it was checked. Schools that recently joined the Hope Scholarship can contact us so we update the listing after verifying it.
